Sara Miller
Chief Executive Officer

Sara joined the organization in 2008, bringing over 25 years of experience in nonprofit, governmental and private sectors. She oversees all aspects of the organization, including administration, finance and programmatic work. She has led efforts throughout her career to further the enhancement, planning, and implementation of public health-related programmatic and surveillance activities and strategies for Colorado. Learn more about Sara

Sarah Lampe
Chief Operating Officer

Sarah serves on our executive team as the Chief Operating Officer which includes overseeing the Administrative Partnership Line of buisness. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute, Sarah served as a project manager with the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials (CALPHO). Learn more about Sarah

Nikki Cimino
Office Coordinator

As Office Coordinator Nikki assists with welcoming new employees and runs the day-to-day operations in the office. Prior to her work with Trailhead, she ran a successful dog walking business in a general manager capacity, interfacing with clients and walkers. She has also worked in the dean’s office at the Colorado School of Public Health. Nikki earned her Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts in her hometown of Baltimore. Learn more about Nikki

Courtney Fultineer
Program Manager

Courtney manages and provides technical assistance to awardees from PCORI’s Pipeline to Proposal program. She also manages awardees from the University of Colorado’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute’s community engagement pilot grants program. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute, Courtney worked as a project coordinator for a health communication and research company where she managed federally funded research projects examining various health behaviors. Learn more about Courtney

Kyla Hoskins
Program Director

Kyla manages and provides technical assistance to the organization’s community engagement programs, with a primary focus on cross-sector workforce collaboration. She also supports other programmatic work and program development. Kyla comes to us from working in management consulting where she managed and lead cross functional teams, specifically in health care. Prior to diving into the consulting world, Kyla worked for Connect for Health Colorado through its start-up phase and into its sustainability phase. She has a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy. Learn more about Kyla

Nancy Jennings
Program Manager

Nancy manages and provides technical assistance to awardees from PCORI’s Pipeline to Proposal program. She also manages the Community Research Liaison program from the University of Colorado’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute’s community engagement program. Nancy began her professional career as a certified nurse assistant working with geriatric, telemetry and trauma patient populations. Learn more about Nancy

Dillon Loaiza
Accounts Payable Clerk

Dillon works with the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) project as the Accounts Payable Clerk, communicating with awardees and entering budgets and invoices. He previously worked in the private sector at a water management company where he helped coordinate payments for vendors of various sizes. Learn more about Dillon

Tyler Payne
Contract Administrator

Tyler provides administration, management, and negotiation of various contracts across all programs at Trailhead Institute. Before joining us Tyler worked as a Data and Policy Analyst for the Colorado State Innovation Model, and a Community Impact Coordinator for North Colorado Health Alliance, where he was key in the management and development of the of the Thriving Weld and Thriving Colorado dashboards. An alum of Colorado State University, Tyler has a degree in Health and Exercise Science with a focus on Health Promotion. Learn more about Tyler

Benjamin Robb
Program Manager

Ben provides support and technical assistance in PCORI’s Pipeline to Proposals Awards program and EvidenceNOW Southwest’s Regional Health Connector program. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute, Ben worked with various nonprofits in Denver as a grant writer and development associate. Learn more about Ben

William Ryszkowski
Finance Manager

William implements and executes finance organizational strategies based on the organizational strategic plan and support program development from a budgetary aspect. Before joining Trailhead, he worked on the grounds crew at the City Park Golf Course while obtaining his Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy from Metropolitan State University of Denver. William also has an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Learn more about William

Melanie Smith
Program Coordinator

Melanie brings a diverse skill set of problem solving and communication across various mediums to her role as program assistant for the PCORI Pipeline to Proposal and EvidenceNOW Southwest projects. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute team, she worked as a contractor with our organization, assisting with financial and programmatic tasks for the foundation. Teri Spector
Program Director

Teri’s work centers on supporting our community partners working on EvidenceNow Southwest project. Her expertise includes program development, public awareness and community outreach, case management, training, and education and development of health education and promotional materials. She has more than 20 years of experience in public health and nonprofit health organizations in cancer prevention and early detection programs. Learn more about Teri

Justine Sunshine
Program Director

In addition to managing and providing technical assistance to awardees of the PCORI’s Pipeline to Proposal Program, Justine helps build programs geared to advance proposal development, grant writing, and scientific communication. She brings extensive experience in conducting clinical research, managing interdisciplinary academic research programs, and increasing research capacity at resource-limited institutions. Learn more about Justine

Kevin Werner
Program Coordinator

Kevin assists awardees with the PCORI Pipeline to Proposal Awards partnership. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute, he worked as a claims specialist with the Social Security Administration in Denver where he helped the public navigate the process of applying for retirement, disability, and survivor insurance claims. Kevin is a native of South Dakota and earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Spanish Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Learn more about Kevin

Jaime Cabrera
Executive Director, Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative

Jaime leads efforts to grow the newly transformed CPCQC organization to advance the mission of improving the health and well-being of women and infants throughout our state.  She develops infrastructure and funding that is necessary to expand the reach of the organization and also fosters relationships with local, state and federal organizations, clinicians, hospitals, elected officials and families.  She has extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, resource management, operations and finance. Jaime earned a Masters of Public Health from UCLA with a focus on management & policy and a Bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Learn more about Jaime

Holly Coleman
Program Director

Holly leads the Working to Institutionalize Sex Ed (WISE) program that supports schools in order to prepare our nation’s youth for life-long health and well being. She works directly with school staff to create a sustainable, sexuality education program that meets the local needs of the school and the students they serve. She has worked in the field of youth sexual health for over four years. Holly earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. Learn more about Holly

Michelle Deland
North Central Regional Healthcare Coalition Regional Planner

Michelle is an affiliate employee who works directly with the North Central Regional Healthcare Coalition as their Regional Planner. In her role, she coordinates all-hazards emergency preparedness planning and projects. Prior to joining our team, Michelle was the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for the state’s largest substance use disorder treatment provider, focusing primarily on the development of a comprehensive safety program. Michelle earned her Master’s in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver. Learn more about Michelle

Laura Don
Regional Health Coordinator

As a regional health coordinator for the eastern metro area of Denver, Laura works with various organizations to improve the coordination of local services to advance health and address the social determinants of health in her region. Prior to joining Trailhead Institute, she worked for eight years as a clinical social worker at various organizations in Boston, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, and Harvard University. Learn more about Laura
