Colorado Cancer Coalition Offers Easy Way to Give Back This Tax Season

DENVER (February 13, 2025) — As Coloradans prepare to file their 2025 state tax returns, they have an opportunity to support cancer prevention and care with a simple checkmark. The Colorado Cancer Coalition (CCC) is once again included on the Voluntary Contributions Schedule, allowing taxpayers to donate a portion of their refund to the Colorado Cancer Fund. As one of 16 nonprofit organizations featured on the form, CCC relies on these contributions to fund cancer prevention, early detection and programs that enhance the quality of life for survivors and caregivers across the state.

“The Colorado Cancer Coalition is dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer by improving prevention, early detection, and survivorship support,” said Michele Shimomura, President and Executive Director of Trailhead Institute, which serves as the program office for the Colorado Cancer Coalition. “Every donation Colorado taxpayers give through the state’s Voluntary Contributions program makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients, survivors and caregivers across our state.”

The Colorado Cancer Coalition (CCC), a program of Trailhead Institute, works in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment’s (CDPHE) Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and subject matter experts within CCC  to expand its impact across Colorado. Through this partnership, CCC strengthens its efforts in cancer prevention, early detection, survivorship support, education initiatives and advocacy. With Trailhead’s support, CCC’s volunteer-led task forces drive initiatives that align with the goals, objectives, and strategies of the Colorado Cancer Plan which has guided the prevention, treatment, and control of cancer statewide for more than 25 years. Task forces lead efforts such as conducting rural outreach, creating educational materials, professional development curriculum and training, implementing sunscreen dispensers in parks, supporting HPV vaccination awareness efforts, and more.
