Sex Ed Advocacy Resources

Comprehensive sex education (CSE) gives young people the knowledge and skills they need to grow up safe, healthy, and confident, and it sets young people up for success in a diverse society. It helps young people to:

  • Learn how to have healthy relationships.

  • Make informed decisions.

  • Love themselves for who they are.

  • Have respect and compassion for all, including those who are different from them.

We Can All Make An Impact

Helping young people access comprehensive sex education involves many parts of our society. Laws and school boards play a big role in what teachers can teach. Educators, providers, and trusted adults also have important roles in helping young people learn about healthy relationships and their bodies.

Together, many parts of our communities can support young people with access to the education that they need, and positively impact their lives.

Advocating Starts with Our Stories

Supporting Community-led Advocacy

Trailhead Institute works to ensure that communities and organizations have the resources and support that they need to meet their local health needs. In Colorado, many young people lack access to comprehensive sex education, despite 96% of parents supporting sex education in high school, and 84% of parents supporting sex education in middle school.

As part of Trailhead’s mission to support community-led solutions, its Youth Sexual Health Program works with organizations, communities, and school districts to expand access to comprehensive sexual health education through trainings, community engagement, and resource sharing. This repository of sex ed advocacy resources serves to help young people get equitable access to the education and care they deserve.
